About
I would not be writing this “about me” section on a web page if I did not go through my own darkness, which I found very enlightening. Therefore I am sharing it with you to muse you.

My Story
I was born in Ankara, the capital of Turkey; raised in a small town; studied English Literature in Istanbul where I spent most of my life, then moved to Santa Barbara, CA to study Journalism. Immediately after graduation, I moved back to Istanbul to find a job. Guess what? I was back into the wave of journalist arrests in Turkey, which obligated me to work for TV channels, where sexual harassment and discrimination roams freely. Switching sectors did not help. It was disheartening to see my efforts go unrewarded. Trying a couple of different industries therefore losing trust over time, I decided NOT to work corporate for a while.
I felt depression trying to fit into the materialistic world we live in, and called for help to live the life and be the person that I’ve always dreamed of. I’ve realised that my wishes were shaped by what I’ve learned so far, rather than what I really enjoy in life. During my psychotherapy sessions I was enlightened to hear that I’ve had difficulties trying to adopt the norms of socio-cultural environment I was living in. Trying to “fit in” did NOT work, the bell tolled for me. It was my “Renaissance” calling.
I spent a whole year trying to recall who I really am and what my purpose in life is, which enabled me to live the life I have right now. It was hard to break ingrained sense of perfectionism and false idealism and all the teachings of culture. Luckily, I was capable of reminding myself what I forgot; my true essence and balance in life. I transformed obstacles into opportunities.
I became a Reiki Practitioner in 2016, which helped me make up my mind and take action. The same year, I became a Pilates Instructor as I’ve always had passion for movement. Right after graduation, I set up my own Pilates business, in which I emotionally thrived by doing what I love: helping people regain their physical health.
Soon after, I met the love of my life; the humblest and perhaps the only person on Earth who would cancel a long-time planned vacation to Australia in order to fulfill my childhood dream of visiting Galapagos Islands with me. Not to mention all the other commitments we’ve made for each other, life led me to another a big act; I moved back to the US and got married.
When Covid-19 hit, I was trying to start my Pilates business here in the US. Like any other person would, I had my concerns about my loved one’s health and wellness, which inspired me to enroll at IIN, The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and to complete my health coaching certification. Now I feel more confident and ready than ever to inspire those in need of passion and love of life.
